Community Spirit

Our History

The Goodwin Realty Group proudly launched the first edition of Community Spirit's Magazine and hosted Community Spirit's inaugural FREE Family Event in April 2010. With a passion to see their long-standing business successes deliver tangible value to its local community, the Goodwin Group was humbled by the support of Community Spirit's Principal Sponsor Partners in 2011: Telstra Clear, Genesis Energy, and Dulux.

On the 31st of October 2011, the Restoring & Developing Community Spirit Charitable Trust (2554518) was incorporated. The two Founding Patrons, chosen for their integrity, dedication to community service and connection with the greater Mt Albert community are Alice Wylie and Sir Arthur Harold Marshall, (KNZM, FRSNZ, FNZIA, FRAIA).

Communities are about connections, and through 'Community Spirit', we hope to mobilise local people to participate in and care for their local community, to re-ignite conversation, and to celebrate local successes.

Our Objectives

The Advancement of local community-based Education: Primarily through the Community Spirit magazine which aims to inform, educate and inspire readers to improve the quality of life for themselves, their family and community. Advice on Nutrition, Parenting, Health and Fitness and bringing awareness to the many wonderful organisations that are working in our community, but lack profile. To increase our community's use of these organisations.

The Relief of Poverty: Primarily by creating free local Events to engage the local community. To establish a scholarship programme, which is available to local children that have an abundance of talent, but lack the financial support to realise their goals, be they academic, musical, sports, or other.

To celebrate local success and restore pride in the local community: We will increase the profile of the many wonderful people and successes being experienced in our community. There are so many 'heroes' in our community, young and old that no-one knows about. Their stories are priceless, inspiring and foster a pride in our community that we believe has been diluted. A safer community is borne from connection with those we share our neighbourhoods with, and that is a key focus of the Community Spirit Programme. We also feature local destinations, history and other community events to improve participation levels of our local people.

Any other purpose beneficial to the community – including:

. Sport and Recreation
. Providing support and a safety network for the community
. Participation in and support of local events and groups
